PpDM paralel event at the CSW64 | Combating sexual violence of women in the CPLP: BfA, SDG5 and SDG16

In the Portuguese Speaking countries-community (9 countries; CPLP) women and girls are particularly affected by sexual violence. According to the former Director, in these countries “remains a culture of physical and psychological violence against women and girls. Domestic violence, forced and/or early marriages, female genital mutilation (…), among others, are part of the daily lives of millions of women and girls.”

Considering the critical area of the BfA on VAW, SGD 5 and 16, and the UN Spotlight Initiative (Mozambique), the event aims at:

• sharing information about the reality of women and girls in the 9 countries and debating on preventing and combating online and offline sexual violence;
• and continuing previous CSW gathering of exchange among activists and decision-makers of the CPLP.
